THE PLACE: The village of Erin's motto is "Experience the charm!" Nowhere is the phrase more aptly applied than to Beaver Mills Design Inc. "I like the heritage aspect of the commercial area - it's sophisticated country," says owner Ann Stubbs, explaining why she located here two years ago. Stubb's shop reflect a blend of the elegant and the functional, with its wealth of rare antiques and comfortable furnishings for the contemporary home.

THE STYLE: Contemporary combined with classic. As the area's distributor of the Farrow & Ball line of traditional wallpaper and paint, Beaver Mills Design provides materials for those wishing to achieve a contemporary, yet classic look.

IN A NUTSHELL: It's an experience to simply browse at Beaver Mills Design. Stubbs enjoys the restoration work she's taken on with the new store. "I enjoy the challenge of rehabilitating a heritage building. It's never dull," she says. "There's lots of challenges. But, when a client says they want to linger in an interior space I've helped create, that's the true test that I've done my job well."

THE ANGLE: This exquisite shop has a selection of high-end antique pieces and classic home furnishings. A unique collection, coupled with Stubbs's interior design expertise and her choice of quality paints and papers, makes Beaver Mills the place to go to discover new ways to accomplish classic flair.

THE PRODUCTS: Quality antiques that display the simplicity, grace and elegance of superb craftsmanship can add warmth and artistic panache to any home. Because Farrow & Ball paints and papers use three times the pigment of acrylic-based products, their muted colours add extra solidity and warmth to rooms. Young newlyweds, professional singles or couples who want a classic, quality look for their interiors will find everything they need here – light fixtures, paintings, prints, wall coverings, textiles, carpets, mirrors and antique furniture.

UNIQUE: Next door to the main store is Beaver Mills' "Shabby Chic Garage," an eclectic mix of garden sculpture, wicker furniture, wrought iron pieces, inexpensive vintage treasures and items made of bamboo and birch bark.

FAVOURITES: The shop is a cornucopia of one-of-a-kind pieces - a Kasmiri ‘Tree of Life' carpet, a French Louis Philippe mahogany chest, a Scandinavian flame birch side server, an 1840 East Coast, two-drawer stand, a 1740 George II hand-carved elm chair and a French, 19th century, bronze chandelier - just to name a few.

THE MISSION: "Our intention is to bring classic style into a contemporary setting," says Stubbs. "We provide items that bring warmth and charm to your home, things that make a living space a place you want to spend time in. It may be as simple as using new textiles to bring out the beauty of a piece, like slipcovers or draperies from our own work room."
