Eco-friendly Laundry Powder
This natural homemade detergent is as easy on your clothes as it is on the environment.
RECIPE:
12 cups Borax
8 cups bar soap, such as Ivory, grated
8 cups baking soda
8 cups washing soda*
(some ingredients may need to be adjusted depending on local water)
DIRECTIONS:
Stir all ingredients together and store in a sealed container. Use about 1/8 to 1/4 cup per load.
*NOTE: If you can’t find washing soda, make it! Here’s how.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place baking soda in a large pan.
Bake for approximately 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
By cooking your baking soda, you can easily and safely get washing soda.
