Dovetail Interiors: Pure Sophistication Print E-mail

“Service is our specialty. We aspire to do better and better every day.”

THE PLACE: The original Nottawa General Store, built in the mid 1850s, is now home to Dovetail Interiors — Design, Furnishings, Consultation — owned by Tricia Jeffery. This unique destination store, with its original pine floors, wooden shelves, brickwork and one-of-a-kind open second floor balcony, provides a unique backdrop for the tastefully arranged vignettes of furnishings for the home. A unique coach house, with its varied selection of bedding, bath and ladies’ accessories, allows customers to experience the store’s beautiful back garden. Beyond the garden’s fieldstone patio, with its relaxing water feature and scents of native flowers in bloom, you can follow the covered wooden walkway to the sound of chirping birds and rustling trees to the garden house, and discover an array of indoor-outdoor garden décor.

IN A NUTSHELL: A visit to Dovetail Interiors is a trip to the past and the present at the same time! In a comfortable historic setting, sophisticated groupings of cutting-edge home furnishings reflect a wide variety of current styles and palettes. Here, you’re bound to find something to appeal to your personal taste in home décor.

THE ANGLE: Jeffery captures the vibrant essence of her store. “I go to a lot of product shows and I’m not afraid to buy,” she says. “We provide a smorgasbord of every decorating need a customer might have. I do a lot of research and know what to buy to get the best product for the best price… I get paid to shop and talk. How much better can it get?”

THE PRODUCTS: This large, refurbished historic store is bursting with the finest home furnishings and décor, including wall art, glassware, lamps, bed and bath items, area rugs, tableware, fashion accessories, gift items and more. The building acts as a retail showroom, as well as the base of operations for Jeffery’s successful interior design business. Commenting on what makes good design, Jeffery says: “It’s not just what hits your eyes when you enter a space. It is as much about the feeling you get from a room that shows the job was done right.”

UNIQUE: Housed in a historic building complete with a local post office and Grounds for Divorce, a cosy cappuccino bar offering an assortment of homemade cookies and treats, Dovetail Interiors, with its accent on country-casual style, has become a destination store for many. “Stock moves so quickly,” beams Jeffery, “that every visit is a new experience for people.” Aside from always experiencing a fresh array of items to stimulate your imagination, Dovetail Interiors provides another constant for its customers — personal service. “I have the best staff in the world,” says Jeffery. “We’re like a family. Service is our specialty. We aspire to do better and better every day.”
