We have come across some spectacular kids rooms while touring the more than 100 homes we feature each year. So many, in fact, that we've decided to showcase them by gender. These are seven of our favourite girls' rooms to date.
No matter the weather outside, this adorable room with two twin beds, will have any young girl waking up to smell the flowers. Matching lilac bedding, paired with green accents and bed frames, is a super cute colour combination that's both fresh and timeless. Lamps constructed to resemble birdhouses, adorned with butterfly lampshades, are an important and beautiful touch.
This is a fabulous room for a young woman or teen. The décor reflects its location on the water in white, turquoise and brown. The personal loft with ladder is the stuff childhood dreams are made of - with a built-in light for reading. Eleven-year-old Kate helped design her personal en suite bathroom, making this a room she can grow in and continue to love.
Sophia's room is not pink and flowery, but it's just the way she likes it. This blue room perfectly suits her love for hockey, soccer and pirates. A treasure chest at the bottom of her bed offers extra storage for toys while keeping with the pirate theme, which also includes a lantern, treasure map, bedside parrot and black pirate ship.
4. Sweet As Candy
Beautifully designed for a little princess or ballerina. Pink and green work wonderfully together with a yellow bedside table to tie it all together. Framed drawings of ballerinas are a lovely and inexpensive way to bring art into a little girl's bedroom and make all the difference in this child's space. Heavy pink curtains are easy for kids to draw close and keep it nice and dark at nap time.
5. Pretty In Pink
It doesn't get pinker than this. Dayna, 15, has surrounded herself with her favourite colour by dressing the walls and the uniquely angled, alcove ceilings in pink. Her room is divided into three areas to include a large walk-in closet and a sitting area. What teenager wouldn't love their own living space that shows off their personal taste and style?
The shabby chic style of this renovated farmhouse is carried into the kids' room. Like several pieces of furniture in the home, this set of bunk beds was painted white along with the rocking chair. Matching comforters in soft, earthy colours are like breaths of fresh air, while drawers beneath the beds offer storage space for visiting children. This style of kids' room is also suited to cottage life.
This elegant and stylish bedroom belongs to a lucky 11-year-old. It's completely outfitted in black and white, 50s-style décor. A canvassed, Audrey Hepburn portrait hangs above a patterned fainting couch, which really establishes the era of the design and provides a great space to hangout with friends. Large bookcases offer lots of storage and a simple wall stencil carries the theme from one side of the room to the other.
